About the role
Melbourne Theatre Company is seeking a capable and detail-driven Finance Manager to safeguard the integrity of the Company's financial systems and deliver clear, reliable financial information across the organisation.
Reporting to the Chief Finance & Operating Officer, this role leads the core financial operations of a multifaceted and fast-paced arts organisation. You will oversee reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll and compliance, while acting as a key point of contact for auditors, government funding bodies, The University of Melbourne and other regulatory agencies. Leading a small finance team, you will provide the day-to-day leadership, mentoring and support that keeps the function running smoothly.
The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience in financial management, reporting and compliance, backed by strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail. You will be CPA or CA qualified, working toward qualification, or bring equivalent professional experience. Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with integrated finance and payroll systems are essential.
An accomplished communicator, you will be comfortable preparing Board and Committee papers, engaging senior stakeholders and translating financial detail into advice that supports decision-making. You will manage competing priorities with ease, meet deadlines in a dynamic environment, and bring a genuine commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.
You will play an integral part in delivering a responsive, value-adding finance function that supports strategic and operational decisions right across the Company. Experience within the arts, not-for-profit or tertiary sector is desirable.
If you are motivated by supporting the financial health of one of Australia's leading cultural institutions and contributing to our vision to be recognised as one of the world's preeminent theatre companies, we welcome your application.
