Clinical Research Fellow in Point-of-Care MRI

Part-Time (0.5FTE) | Fixed-term contract until June 2028

The Clinical and Research Imaging Centre (CRIC) at SAHMRI is one of Australia’s most advanced imaging research facilities including one of the first ultra-high 200mT/m clinical research MRI systems in the world, the Australian Centre for Photon-Counting CT and an ultra-low field point-of-care 64mT MRI research program. The centre has master research agreement with Siemens Healthineers and is supported by the National Imaging Facility.

The Clinical Research Fellow in Point-of-Care Imaging will join SAHMRI’s Clinical and Research Imaging Centre to help grow the clinical and research impact of point-of-care imaging, with a focus on ultra-low field brain MRI. Working with imaging specialists, clinicians, researchers and health system partners, the role will support research programs across areas such as cerebrovascular health, traumatic injury and health equity.

This position will provide clinical leadership, contribute to research strategy, manage projects and build collaborations across local and national networks. It is well suited to a clinically experienced medical or allied health professional looking to expand their research capability and contribute to innovative imaging research with real-world health impact.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide clinical and research expertise to support point-of-care imaging research across cardiovascular and neurological health.
• Contribute to ultra-low field MRI research strategy through literature review, clinical insight, stakeholder engagement and innovative project ideas.
• Lead and coordinate research project activities, including ethics submissions, project planning, stakeholder communication and delivery of key milestones.
• Build strong relationships with clinicians, researchers, academic partners, industry collaborators, regulatory bodies and health system stakeholders.
• Represent the ultra-low field MRI program at workshops, seminars, meetings and conferences.
• Support the growth and impact of the program through publications, reporting, funding applications and translation of research into practice.
• Help demonstrate the real-world value of point-of-care imaging through research outcomes, collaboration and changes in clinical practice.

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:

• Undergraduate medical degree or postgraduate qualifications in an allied health field with clinical experience.
• At least two years working in a predominantly clinical or clinical research environment.
• Experience related to any of general practice, public health, medical imaging, stroke, neurology or cardiovascular disease.
• Appreciation of embedded clinical research methods.
• Understanding of public health systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, engagement and presentation skills.
• Project management skills including timely delivery of outputs, monitoring and resolving issues.
• Desire to contribute to a common purpose with willingness to learn new skills and take on new challenges.

• Some out of hours work may be required.
• DCSI Working with Children and Police Checks may be required.
