Design Manager - Defence

Intract Australia is seeking an experienced Design Manager – Defence Projects to join our Building & Construction team.

This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing people together, solving problems early and helping projects move from concept through to delivery with clarity and confidence.

You will lead the design management process across Defence building and infrastructure projects, working closely with consultants, project teams, Defence stakeholders and internal leaders to deliver compliant, practical and buildable design outcomes.

What You’ll Do

• Lead design management from concept through to construction support and handover
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design consultants and internal project teams
• Manage design programmes, deliverables and approval requirements
• Lead design reviews, constructability reviews and value engineering activities
• Support tendering, methodology development and work-winning activities
• Build strong relationships with Defence representatives, consultants and stakeholders
• Support continuous improvement across Defence design processes

What You’ll Bring

• Tertiary qualification in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
• 10+ years’ design management experience on major building or infrastructure projects
• Defence or government project experience highly regarded
• Experience across D&C, ECI, GMP or construct-only delivery models
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain Defence Security Clearance
