About the role
As a key financial partner to the Community Support Department, you will provide trusted financial advice, analysis and support to enable sound decision-making and the effective delivery of Council services to the community. With a strong background in commerce or accounting, you will support statutory financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, ensuring financial activities are accurate, timely and compliant with relevant legislation, Australian Accounting Standards and Council policies.
Working collaboratively with business units, senior staff and management, you will provide financial modelling and advice to support new initiatives, service delivery and funding decisions, while monitoring revenue and expenditure and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and strengthen financial sustainability. You will also contribute to grant applications, financial acquittals, internal audit activities and continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
A key focus of the role will be building financial capability across the department. You will work closely with Coordinators and Service Leads to strengthen their understanding and management of financial responsibilities, while supporting staff to build financial literacy and confidence in using financial systems. Through the annual budget and forecasting processes, you will provide practical financial insight that supports effective planning, informed decision-making and the delivery of quality services to the community.
