The Mulberry Group is a Melbourne-based hospitality group founded in 2011 by Nathan Toleman. Our venues today include Hazel, Dessous, Liminal, Lilac Wine, Bar Sala, Heide Kitchen, Square One Coffee Roasters and our regenerative agricultural farm and social enterprise, Common Ground Project. Across our venues, we now have a team of over 200 amazing people, and counting.

About the role

As the Assistant Venue Manager reporting directly to the Venue Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Assisting the Venue Manager with building and leading the team.

• Leading by example to promote a positive workplace culture.

• Helping to maintain high standards of service and ambience in the venue as well as our events operations

• Ensuring that the guest experience delivered is aligned with the identity of the venue.

• Creating lasting connections and relationships with the local community.

• Assisting the Venue Manager in driving the financial performance of the venue.

• Ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations and events within the venue.

• Assisting the Venue Manager with the ongoing training, coaching, and development of the team.

About you

We are looking for someone who displays:

• A genuine passion for delivering warm and engaging hospitality

• Someone who leads by example and is hands-on with the team side by side

• The ability to lead and continuously develop the FOH team

• The ability to perform during high-pressure service periods and be highly adaptable.

• A talent for multitasking and problem-solving.

• A proactive nature and the initiative to drive growth and improvement throughout the venue.

• Excellent communication skills.
