Senior Product Designer

As Senior Product Designer – Betashares Direct, you play a vital role in delivering a world class user experience across our web platforms that customers engage with to build wealth. This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to drive innovation, craft polished, high fidelity designs and contribute significantly to the success of the product. 

Leveraging your expertise and past successes, you’ll work collaboratively with our Growth and Research colleagues to transform our customer feedback and good investing habits into action across our web experience.

Leading design for the web squad, you’ll have the opportunity to prioritise and enhance the overall user experience, boost engagement, and help bring our ambitious roadmap to life. You’ll champion collaboration and work with web developers to deliver the best outcome based on our customer research. A strong interest in design systems is highly valued, as you’ll help ensure our web experience is consistent, scalable and built on a robust component foundation.

Role Responsibilities:

Hands-on Delivery 

Leading design in the web squad, you will deliver a polished, high-craft web experience to help Australians build long-term wealth on Betashares Direct. Foster close collaboration with product managers and web developers, emphasising constant communication between designers and engineers. Iterate on product design within a unified design system, ensuring alignment with the desired customer outcomes and a consistently high bar for visual and interaction craft.

Stakeholder Engagement 

Collaborate closely with key internal experts to gather valuable insights and feedback. Cultivate and maintain relationships with these stakeholders, actively contributing to your education in financial services. 

Design Innovation and Iteration 

Collaborate with the Growth and Research leads to increase activation, retention, and engagement, and continuously improve existing features. Work closely with squad leads to instil a culture of building a world-class, meticulously crafted web product. 

Design System Maintenance 

Act as the custodian of our web design system, the Figma source of truth, and design processes for the web team. Ensure consistency and scalability by maintaining and evolving the design system to meet the needs of the evolving product landscape and champion its adoption across the web team.

Key skills and experience:

End-to-end product design Demonstrated experience in all phases of product design, with a strong emphasis on delivering user-centric solutions. 

UX/UI expertise and craft  Proficiency in crafting user experiences through wireframes, user flows, and intuitive UI designs, backed by strong visual and interaction craft. Proven ability to produce high-quality, polished design deliverables to a high level of detail, and proficient in creating interactive prototypes to convey design concepts and interactions effectively. 

Design systems A genuine interest in, and experience working with, design systems. Comfortable contributing to and evolving a shared component library, and thinking in reusable, scalable patterns rather than one-off solutions. 

AI & emerging design tools Comfortable using (and continuously learning) modern design tooling, including AI-assisted workflows to improve quality and speed of delivery, while maintaining strong craft and judgment. Curious about new design technologies and willing to experiment and evaluate what works to improve the design team’s processes and toolkit.

Stakeholder management Proficient in articulating complex design concepts and ideas in a clear, concise manner. Ability to actively listen, address concerns, and incorporate valuable feedback, fostering strong collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders. 

A passion to help customers build wealth A interest in investment is a minimum requirement with prior knowledge and experience in fintech or banking being highly preferred. 

Nice to have:  

• Experience working in fintech, financial services or banking industries.  
• Knowledgeable in Figma <> AI coding workflows  
• Robust analytics knowledge across Google or Adobe Analytics, Amplitude or similar platforms.  
• Experience ideating, designing and interpreting results of A/B tests on B2C products.
