The Role 

We’re looking for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to lead security accreditation, assurance and compliance activities within a small, focused team supporting a Defence battle management capability in Melbourne. This is a great opportunity for a security professional to provide oversight and guidance across a capability’s full lifecycle.

You’ll work closely with engineering, software development and sustainment personnel, assessing security risks and supporting accreditation decisions, while providing security advice that keeps technical activities aligned with Defence requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate security accreditation activities for capability systems
• Develop, maintain and update security accreditation artefacts and supporting documentation
• Conduct security risk assessments and ensure risks are documented, treated and managed
• Support maintenance of Authority to Operate (ATO) and ongoing security assurance requirements
• Apply frameworks including ISM, Essential Eight, DISP, ISO 27001 and NIST, and engage security authorities to support accreditation outcomes

Required

• Current NV1 security clearance
• Experience in security accreditation, system authorisation or security assurance within Defence or Government
• Cyber security risk assessment experience, with working knowledge of the ISM
• Experience producing accreditation documentation and security reports
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with an understanding of systems engineering and SDLC principles
