Accountant- Part time

About the role

Ogis Engineering Pty Ltd is seeking a part-time Accountant 24 hours a week to join our Finance team based in St Marys, NSW. This is an excellent opportunity for a financial accounting professional to contribute to our organisation on a flexible, part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position offers the flexibility of part-time work whilst allowing you to make a meaningful impact on our financial operations and strategic decision-making processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers

• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards

• Recording journal entries and ensuring accurate categorisation of transactions

• Performing bank reconciliations and account reconciliations on a timely basis

• Preparing trial balances and investigating discrepancies

• Supporting the audit process and providing necessary documentation to external auditors

• Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

• Maintaining financial documentation and records in accordance with legislative requirements

• Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and financial analysis reports

• Supporting month-end and year-end close procedures

• Manage junior accountant.

What we're looking for

• Relevant accounting qualification such as an Associate Diploma in Accounting, Bachelor of Accounting or equivalent professional qualification

• Demonstrated experience in financial accounting and reporting within a professional environment

• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

• Thorough understanding of accounting principles and generally accepted accounting practices

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines

• Sound knowledge of taxation compliance and reporting obligations

• Professional communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders

• Membership or eligibility for membership with a professional accounting body such as CPA Australia or the Institute of Public Accountants is desirable

• Knowledge of M1 ECI software is a bonus
