The Australian Medical Council (AMC) is seeking an experienced and highly organised Manager, Prevocational Accreditation to join our Accreditation Directorate.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the quality of Australia’s prevocational medical training and assessment programs. Working closely with accreditation authorities, health services, medical education providers, expert assessors, committees, and regulatory stakeholders, you will manage a diverse portfolio of accreditation and monitoring activities that support safe, high-quality medical practice across Australia.

About the role

Reporting to the Head, Accreditation Governance & Reporting, you will lead a portfolio responsible for the accreditation and monitoring of:

• Prevocational Training Accreditation Authorities
• Pre-Employment Structured Clinical Interview (PESCI) providers
• Workplace-Based Assessment (WBA) programs

You will work across accreditation, governance, policy and operational teams to ensure AMC standards are applied consistently and effectively, while contributing to continuous improvement across accreditation programs.

The role also includes direct people leadership responsibilities and opportunities to represent the AMC in national stakeholder forums and sector engagement activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the accreditation and monitoring of prevocational training authorities, Workplace-Based Assessment (WBA) programs and PESCI providers.
• Provide expert advice on accreditation standards, policies and procedures to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage accreditation projects, reviews and monitoring activities, ensuring quality outcomes are delivered on time and within budget.
• Support governance and committee processes, including preparing reports, recommendations and briefing papers.
• Contribute to policy development, continuous improvement initiatives and strategic projects across the accreditation portfolio.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with accreditation authorities, education providers, regulatory bodies and other key stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor and support team members while fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
• Represent the AMC in stakeholder meetings, consultations and sector engagement activities.

• Experience managing complex programs, projects or accreditation activities
• Demonstrated people leadership experience
• Outstanding organisational and time management skills
• Proficient program management, time management skills and strong attention to detail (required).
• Excellent written communication, analysis and report-writing abilities
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management experience
• Sound judgement and the ability to manage complex issues professionally and sensitively
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes
• Proficient computer and administration skills

Highly regarded

• Experience in accreditation, regulation, policy development or committee governance
• Knowledge of the Australian healthcare system, medical education or health professional regulation
• Experience working with geographically dispersed teams
• Experience within the health, education or regulatory sectors
