About the role
This role is open to applicants who identify as Aboriginal only. Roles which involve directly providing programs and services to Aboriginal people for the purposes of promoting their welfare are considered to be ‘Aboriginal identified roles’ and are as such restricted to Aboriginal people only. This is permitted under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

Our Aboriginal Family Preservation Program (formally intensive family preservation) supports families at risk of entering the child protection system. We are committed to empowering Aboriginal children and their families through intensive, culturally safe, and trauma-informed support.

About the Role
You will provide intensive, culturally safe case management to support Aboriginal families and prevent children from entering Out of Home Care. This includes engaging families through therapeutic and strengths-based approaches, working collaboratively with internal and external services, and ensuring children’s safety, connection to culture, and wellbeing.
This is a fixed-term contract till 30 June, 2027.
Tasks and Responsibilities
· Provide targeted, trauma-informed case management to Aboriginal children and families
· Build strong, trust-based relationships with families and children
· Develop action plans that increase safety and strengthen family bonds
· Maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvement
· Work collaboratively internally and externally with community and Government partners
Requirements
· This is an identified position. Aboriginality is a genuine requirement of this role
· Working with Children's Check - Paid Worker
· National Criminal History Check upon commencement
· NSW Driver’s Licence (minimum P2)
Skills and Experience
· Experience in case management or Child Protection
· Relevant qualifications (TAFE or University) or significant community/life experience
· Deep understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal communities
· Experience working with families facing intergenerational trauma
· Strong knowledge of mental health, substance use, and domestic violence impacts
· Excellent communication, engagement, and report writing skills
· Commitment to culturally respectful, strengths-based practice
