Kinder Souls Pty Ltd is a registered NDIS provider based in Sydney, New South Wales, delivering high-quality, person-centred disability support services to children, young people and adults with varying support needs.

We are seeking an experienced, reliable and motivated Residential Care Officer to provide person-centred care and support to people with disability living in a residential setting. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about improving the quality of life of people with disability while taking responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of a participant's home.

The successful applicant will support residents with personal care, community participation, social development, skill-building and independence while ensuring the home environment remains safe, clean, organised and well managed.

Our residents may have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual disability, physical disability, neurological conditions, psychosocial disabilities, mental health conditions and other complex support needs.

Experience supporting clients with complex behaviours and behaviours of concern is essential. The successful applicant must be able to remain calm under pressure, follow Behaviour Support Plans and use appropriate support strategies to maintain the safety, dignity and wellbeing of residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents in a residential disability setting.
• Support residents with personal care, daily living activities, meal preparation, social engagement and community participation.
• Encourage independence and assist residents to develop personal, social and life skills in accordance with their goals and support plans.
• Implement Individual Support Plans, Behaviour Support Plans, Health Management Plans and organisational procedures.
• Respond appropriately to complex behaviours and behaviours of concern using approved de-escalation and positive behaviour support strategies.
• Monitor, document and report on residents' progress, wellbeing, health status and support needs.
• Administer, monitor and document medication in accordance with training, medication charts, organisational policies and procedures.
• Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the residential home.
• Ensure all household tasks are completed to a high standard, including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, grocery shopping and maintaining a safe and organised living environment.
• Monitor household supplies and report maintenance issues, risks and hazards as required.
• Support residents to attend medical, allied health, educational, vocational and community appointments.
• Promote healthy routines, personal hygiene, wellbeing and independence.
• Maintain accurate progress notes, incident reports, medication records and all required documentation.
• Complete effective shift handovers and communicate important information to team members and management.
• Work collaboratively with families, guardians, support coordinators, allied health professionals and other stakeholders.
• Promote residents' rights, dignity, privacy, choice and cultural needs at all times.
• Follow NDIS Practice Standards, Work Health and Safety requirements and all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Participate in training, supervision and ongoing professional development.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of support and care provided.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working in a Residential Care, Disability Support, SIL or Supported Accommodation environment.
• Demonstrated experience supporting clients with complex behaviours and behaviours of concern.
• Experience managing a residential home environment, including household routines, medication management and maintaining a clean, safe and organised living environment.
• Relevant qualification in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• Current Working With Children Check.
• Current Australian Federal Police Check.
• Current Australian Driver Licence.
• Medication competency or willingness to complete required training.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to work overnight shifts, sleepovers and extended hours when required.
• Ability to commit to a regular full-time roster.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working as a Residential Care Officer or Senior Disability Support Worker.
• Experience in Supported Independent Living (SIL) services.
• Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Experience supporting participants with complex health, mental health or psychosocial support needs.
• Experience coordinating appointments, transport and daily household operations.
• Experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams and external support services.
• Experience using electronic case notes, medication management and incident reporting systems.

Induction & Training

Successful applicants will receive participant-specific induction and training covering relevant Support Plans, Behaviour Support Strategies, Health and Medication Protocols, Risk Management Procedures and Workplace Policies before commencing independent shifts.
