About the role
Looking for more than traditional legal advisory work?
Join DEECA's Legal Projects Team and help deliver significant government reform, regulatory and litigation initiatives. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team of lawyers with advisory, litigation management and regulatory reform expertise, you will partner with project teams across DEECA to solve complex legal problems, manage strategic legal risks and contribute to the design and delivery of major reform. This is a unique opportunity for a talented lawyer to gain exposure to high-profile projects while developing expertise across public law, regulatory reform, legislation and dispute resolution.
About you
We are looking for a motivated and adaptable lawyer who enjoys solving complex problems and working collaboratively to deliver outcomes.
You are comfortable operating in a dynamic environment, partnering with stakeholders across policy, program and project teams to develop practical legal solutions to challenging issues. You are curious, outcomes-focused and keen to broaden your experience.
To be successful, you will have demonstrated experience in providing clear, practical and strategic legal advice in at least two or more of the following areas: public and administrative law, litigation and dispute resolution, statutory interpretation, natural resources and environmental law, regulation and regulatory reform.
Experience in contributing to complex regulatory reform projects will be highly regarded.

This is a fixed term position available for a period 30 June 2028. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
