Position Overview

This is a full-time position based in the Sunshine, Victoria office. Reporting to the Building & Assessing Manager, the Desktop Assessing Team Leader will guide and oversee a team of 8 Desktop Home Assessors who are responsible for virtual assessments of impacted properties, cost validation, and end-to-end management of assigned claims. You will ensure your team is consistent and effective in their approach to virtual assessments and Scope of Works validation, while coaching them to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coaching and developing the team across scoping accuracy, cost validation, compliance, project coordination and virtual assessment techniques.
• Leading, monitoring and inspiring the team to execute a high standard of service and process adherence.
• Managing team members in line with company policies and employment law, including safety, wellness and performance frameworks.
• Implementing and refining cost control strategies to deliver outcomes in line with business objectives.
• Identifying areas of improvement throughout the Home Claims value chain.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Handling escalated claims, complaints and matters of complexity.
• Tracking, monitoring and reporting on KPIs, ensuring productivity and quality metrics meet internal expectations.
• Providing input into staffing requirements, recruitment and ongoing process and system development.

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience leading, coaching, performance-managing and mentoring a team, with accountability for business results.
• Previous experience within the Building or Construction industries, as an Estimator in Residential Buildings, or as a Home Assessor within an insurance company.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in Home Assessing or the Building industry.
• Strong change-agility and a track record of motivating a team.
• Exceptional time management and organisational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, and confidence negotiating outcomes with customers and industry professionals.
• Insurance experience preferred but not essential.
