About the role
Elizabeth Macarthur High School is a partially selective high school in Narellanvale with 1459 students, including 87 Aboriginal students and 30% English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) students. The school has a mission statement that is at the centre of all processes and practices, "Shaping the future by pursuing excellence and creating boundless opportunities”. The school has a learning platform that includes 4Matt, Gerric and Glasser and has strong curriculum links with its feeder primary schools. The school has a trade training centre and a support unit with 3 classes (2 Autism and 1 Multiple Categorical).
General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Demonstrated experience in using evaluative thinking and leading school plan initiatives that drive improvement in student outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex case management that supports students with diverse needs, which promotes positive outcomes and fosters an inclusive school culture.
Demonstrated capacity to develop, lead and evaluate explicit teaching and learning programs that challenge and engage high potential, gifted and twice exceptional students in a partially selective setting, which includes a support unit.
Proven ability to lead innovation and systems priorities within the school and/or wider educational community.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
