About the role
Full-Time Position
Leadership & Operations
$55–$60 per hour + Super
Sydney, NSW
$109,000 – $140,000+ per annum + superannuation, depending on experience and agreed working hours
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Pharmacist Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a progressive and rapidly evolving pharmacy.
This is an opportunity for a pharmacist who is ready to move beyond a traditional community pharmacy role and take genuine ownership of people leadership, pharmacy operations, clinical governance, workflow improvement and team development.
The successful candidate will be an experienced pharmacist and capable leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes and creating a high-performing pharmacy environment while maintaining exceptional standards of patient care and regulatory compliance.
Our pharmacy operates within a specialised and rapidly evolving area of pharmacy practice, with workflows, patient interactions and operational requirements that differ from those of a traditional community pharmacy.
You must be adaptable, comfortable with change and willing to learn new systems and ways of working.
We are looking for someone who can think beyond the dispensary bench — someone who can lead a team, solve problems, improve workflows, manage competing priorities and contribute to the continued development of the pharmacy.
As Pharmacist Manager, you will hold responsibility for both pharmacy practice and the day-to-day leadership of the pharmacy team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading, supporting and developing pharmacists, dispensary technicians and pharmacy support staff
Managing day-to-day pharmacy operations and maintaining effective workflow
Maintaining clinical oversight and performing dispensing and pharmacist duties as required
Ensuring safe, accurate and legally compliant dispensing practices
Managing Schedule 8 medicines and associated regulatory requirements
Monitoring workload, staffing requirements, rostering and operational priorities
Conducting regular staff one-on-ones, performance reviews and development discussions
Supporting recruitment, interviewing, onboarding and training of new team members
Managing performance concerns and supporting a professional, accountable workplace culture
Acting as a senior escalation point for patient complaints, staff concerns and operational issues
Identifying workflow bottlenecks and implementing practical process improvements
Assist in developing and maintaining SOPs, training resources and operational procedures
Monitoring key pharmacy performance indicators including script volumes, dispensing accuracy and turnaround times
Supporting stock management, inventory control and operational efficiency
Working closely with senior pharmacy operations management on business performance, growth initiatives and continuous improvement
Ensuring the pharmacy remains compliant, organised and audit-ready at all times
Reporting and meeting with the management team regularly
You will be a Pharmacist Manager who is confident taking responsibility and providing direction to a team.
Ideally, you will demonstrate:
Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Pharmacist
Strong clinical and dispensing experience
Previous experience as a Pharmacist Manager is a must
Demonstrated leadership and people-management capability
Confidence providing constructive feedback and managing staff performance
Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
A sound understanding of Schedule 8 medicines and pharmacy regulatory requirements
Strong attention to clinical governance, documentation and compliance
The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
Commercial awareness and an interest in pharmacy performance and continuous improvement
Confidence using pharmacy technology and learning new systems
A proactive approach — you identify problems and work towards solutions rather than waiting for direction
A genuine interest in developing both yourself and the people around you
Most importantly, you will need to be adaptable.
The pharmacy and the broader industry continue to evolve, and the person joining us must be comfortable working in an environment where systems, processes, technology and operational priorities will continue to develop.
Hourly rate: $55–$60 per hour + superannuation, depending on experience.
Hours available: Approximately 38–45 hours per week.
This equates to approximately $109,000–$140,000+ per annum + superannuation, depending on experience and agreed working hours.
We are prepared to offer a competitive package for the right Pharmacist Manager who can demonstrate strong leadership capability and the ability to take ownership of the pharmacy's day-to-day operations.
This role provides an opportunity to:
Step into a genuine pharmacy leadership position with meaningful autonomy
Develop your skills beyond traditional dispensing and community pharmacy
Lead and develop a growing pharmacy team
Gain exposure to specialised and emerging areas of pharmacy practice
Influence pharmacy workflows, systems and operational processes
Work closely with senior operational leadership
Contribute to the ongoing development and growth of the pharmacy
Build experience across clinical governance, people leadership, operations and business performance
Join an environment where ideas, initiative and continuous improvement are encouraged
If you are an experienced Pharmacist Manager looking for your next leadership opportunity — particularly if you are ready for something different from the traditional community pharmacy environment — we would like to hear from you.
Please apply with your current CV and a brief cover letter outlining your pharmacy experience, leadership background and what you are looking for in your next role.
All applications will be treated confidentially.
