Management Accountant

About the role

Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the broader management team, this is a hands-on position suited to an accountant who enjoys working closely with management and operational teams and has a strong understanding of the financial and commercial aspects of project-based businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Preparation and review of monthly management accounts

• Project and job cost reporting and analysis

• Work in Progress (WIP) reporting and reconciliation

• Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting

• Monitoring project performance, margins and costs

• Balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger management

• Liasing with Tax Accountant

• Accounts payable and receivable oversight

• Supporting month-end and year-end processes

• Assisting management with financial analysis and commercial decision-making

About you

• Previous experience as a Management Accountant, Commercial Accountant or similar

• Experience within the construction, civil or contracting industries preferred

• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP and project-based accounting

• Experience with Workbench highly regarded

• Experience with MYOB

• Strong Excel skills

• CPA/CA qualification or working towards qualification preferred

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• The ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance staff

• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to become involved across all areas of the finance function
