The Opportunity

Lead the delivery of important road, bridge and drainage works that support the MidCoast community.

Based in Taree, this hands-on leadership role will coordinate work crews and resources to deliver safe, high-quality civil infrastructure projects across the region. You will play an important role in keeping local roads and infrastructure reliable, while supporting a positive and safety-focused team culture.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced civil construction worker who is ready to step into a team leadership role and make a visible difference in the community.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and supervise work crews delivering road, bridge, drainage and maintenance projects.
• Organise daily work and coordinate labour, plant, materials and equipment.
• Monitor works to ensure they meet plans, specifications, quality, time and cost requirements.
• Operate road, bridge and drainage plant, equipment and tools safely when required.
• Ensure WHS, traffic control, environmental and risk management requirements are followed.
• Communicate with staff, contractors, engineers and other stakeholders.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and support to team members.
• Complete WHS audits and assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and demonstrate Council's values.

What you'll bring

• A Certificate III or higher qualification in Civil Construction, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in road, bridge and drainage construction and maintenance.
• Experience leading or supervising civil construction crews.
• Knowledge of plans, designs, technical specifications and quality requirements.
• Experience using civil construction plant, equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of WHS, traffic control, environmental and risk management requirements.
• Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving and organisational skills.
• Experience managing resources and working within budget.
• Current Class C Drivers Licence.
• Current Traffic Controller's Card and Implement Traffic Control Plans Card, or equivalent qualifications.

What we offer?

Salary: Commencing salary circa $68,500 - $75,400p.a. plus superannuation. (dependent on skills and experience)

Location: This position will be based at our Taree Depot at 36 Arkwright Crescent, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
