The PCHN Safety, Quality and Performance team is evolving, with a strong focus on supporting frontline care delivery, strengthening contemporary governance and service improvement, and embedding robust safety and quality systems across Perth Children’s Hospital and Neonatology (PCHN).

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Improvement Coordinator to join our team and play a key role in maturing our quality improvement culture, supporting sustainable change, and aligning Quality Improvement (QI) activity with broader organisational and health system priorities.

Reporting to the Director, Safety, Quality and Performance PCHN, you will work closely with clinical teams, directorates, senior leaders and governance committees to build QI capability. You will support staff to develop and deliver improvement initiatives, and utilise data and evidence to identify opportunities for better care and service delivery.

A key focus of the role will be creating and promoting a culture of curiosity, learning, evidence-based practice and continuous improvement. This means reducing barriers to participation in QI - making it easier for staff to understand how to get started, access expert support and progress improvement ideas from concept through to implementation and evaluation.

You will also connect QI with broader safety and quality priorities. This includes supporting teams to translate learning and recommendations from clinical incidents, audits, performance data and other sources into practical improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include

• Leading and supporting QI initiatives from planning and implementation through to evaluation and transition into business-as-usual.
• Building QI capability through education, training, resources and accessible support, including clear pathways to engage with the PCHN QI program.
• Partnering with the directorates and using data, evidence and performance measures to identify trends, variation and practical improvement opportunities.
• Synthesising complex information into concise reports and recommendations for senior leaders and governance committees.
• Supporting clinical audit and accreditation readiness activities with the NSQHS Standards.

About You

If you are an experienced quality improvement or healthcare professional who enjoys working with people to turn ideas into practical improvements, we encourage you to apply.

Experience leading or managing quality improvement programs within a healthcare environment, together with experience with contemporary quality improvement methodologies, principles and practices will be highly regarded.

Clinical / Professional qualifications are welcome but not essential.

Development can be offered in this role to support exposure to clinical governance activities including the NSQHS Standards and accreditation readiness, clinical audit and safety and quality performance monitoring.

Our team works in partnership with the PCHN directorates (Medical, Surgical, Allied Health & Neonatology), clinical teams and CAHS colleagues to support safe, high-quality care. We lead and coordinate work across clinical governance, accreditation readiness, quality improvement, clinical incident and risk management, policy, safety and quality performance reporting and system-wide learning.
