About the role
The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager in the technical, commercial and administrative delivery of civil and construction projects for CONO Services. The role acts as second-in-charge of the project team, managing engineering documentation, procurement and technical problem-solving to keep the project on program, on budget and to specification. The Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager, Site Engineer(s) and Site Supervisors/Foremen, providing technical direction and support to ensure works are delivered safely, to quality standards and in accordance with design and contract requirements. Competitive remuneration package, commensurate with experience.
Key responsibilities
Support the Project Manager in day-to-day management of the project, including program, cost control, procurement and correspondence.
Deputise for the Project Manager on operational and technical matters as required.
Coordinate project documentation, registers and reporting to keep the project team aligned and informed.
Review design documentation, drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies, constructability issues and opportunities for improvement.
Manage Requests for Information (RFIs) and liaise with design consultants to resolve technical issues.
Provide technical direction to site teams and subcontractors on engineering and construction methodology.
Assist in the procurement of materials, plant and subcontractors in line with project budget and program.
Manage subcontract packages, purchase orders, progress claims and subcontractor performance.
Assist the Project Manager with cost reporting, variations, progress claims and financial forecasting.
Ensure work is executed in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), specifications and quality standards.
About you
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Typically 3–6 years' experience in a project engineering role within civil or construction works.
Sound understanding of construction methods, contract administration and engineering documentation.
Proficiency in relevant engineering and project management software (e.g. AutoCAD, 12d Model, MS Project).
Current driver's licence and White Card (General Construction Induction).
Strong technical and analytical skills, with sound engineering judgement.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Effective communicator, able to work collaboratively with site teams, consultants and subcontractors.
Sound problem-solving ability, able to work calmly under pressure.
