APS6 Senior Program Officer – Grants | Green Economy | NV1

Booka is seeking an experienced APS6-equivalent Senior Program Officer – Grants to support a major Australian Government department delivering initiatives supporting the Green Economy
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Commonwealth grants and program professional to work across a high-profile policy and delivery environment involving green economy initiatives, international cooperation and whole-of-government engagement.
 
The opportunity
You will help oversee the implementation of grants and program initiatives supporting Australia’s green economy priorities.
The role requires someone who can translate policy intent into practical program outcomes, manage grants effectively, work across government, and maintain strong relationships with Australian and international stakeholders.
Priority green economy sectors include:

• Renewable and clean energy
• Sustainable agribusiness and food
• Built environment and infrastructure
• Advanced manufacturing and sustainable materials
• Waste management and the circular economy
• Green transportation and logistics
• Energy-efficient technology and products
• Environmental monitoring, analysis and assessment
• Emerging green-sector products and services aligned with Green Economy Agreement priorities

Experience in one or more of these sectors would be highly regarded.
 
Key responsibilities
You will:

• Manage grant initiatives with limited direction.
• Support the design, implementation and administration of Australian Government grant programs.
• Coordinate with government agencies involved in program delivery.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across Australian and international government counterparts and external partners.
• Prepare high-quality advice, briefs, Cabinet materials and ministerial correspondence.
• Identify risks, opportunities and emerging trends across the green economy and energy transition agenda.
• Support broader program and policy activity as required.

 
About you
We are looking for someone with:

• Demonstrated experience in Australian Government grants or program management.
• Strong knowledge of Commonwealth grants processes and governance.
• Experience working in a government or similarly regulated environment.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• High-quality written communication skills.
• Experience preparing briefs, correspondence and advice for senior decision-makers.
• Strong judgement, initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• The ability to work collaboratively while operating with limited direction.

Experience across green economy, climate, energy, sustainability, industry, infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing or related areas would be advantageous.
 
Contract details
Classification: APS6 equivalent
Location: Barton, Canberra ACT
Rate: $65.01 to $73.54 per hour + super, depending on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: 12 months
Extension: Potential further 2x12 months
Travel: Interstate or international travel may be required.
 
Security clearance – mandatory
You must currently hold an Australian Government NV1 security clearance or higher to be considered.
The role requires a current NV1 clearance, and candidates without an existing NV1 or higher-level clearance cannot be considered at this time.
