Group Product Manager – Marketplace 

Lead a high-profile Marketplace Platform Product function, shaping strategy and priorities across a complex, multi-brand digital ecosystem.

• 3–6 month Day Rate Contract Melbourne
• Lead and coach Product Managers across Marketplace, Seller Experience and Core Platform capabilities
• Own portfolio prioritisation, platform strategy and investment trade-offs across multiple businesses and stakeholders

About the Client

Our client is a large, well-established Australian consumer business with a significant digital and eCommerce footprint.

They are continuing to invest in a shared marketplace platform that supports multiple consumer brands and marketplace propositions across the broader group.The environment is complex, highly collaborative and commercially focused, with Product, Technology, Design and business teams working together across a large-scale digital ecosystem.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Group Product Manager to step into a 3–6 month interim leadership role across a Marketplace Platform Product team.

You will provide leadership across a number of interconnected Product areas, including:

• Seller and merchant experience
• Seller onboarding and enablement
• Core marketplace platform capabilities
• APIs and integrations
• Shared platform services
• Banner and business enablement
• Roadmap prioritisation across multiple stakeholders and business units

You will lead and support a team of Product Managers, working closely with Business Analysts, Product Designers, Engineering, Technology, Commercial and Operations stakeholders.

A key part of the role will be bringing together multiple Product roadmaps into a clear and coherent platform direction, while balancing shared capability, business-specific requirements and competing commercial priorities.

You will also be responsible for:

• Leading, coaching and supporting Product Managers
• Setting and challenging priorities across multiple Product streams
• Identifying opportunities for reuse and shared platform capability
• Managing dependencies across Product and Technology teams
• Making portfolio-level prioritisation and investment trade-offs
• Balancing foundational platform investment with shorter-term commercial opportunities
• Partnering with senior stakeholders across multiple business areas
• Providing continuity, direction and senior Product decision-making throughout the contract period

About You

You will be an experienced Group Product Manager, Head of Product, Product Lead or senior Product leader with a strong background operating across complex digital products, platforms or ecosystems.

You will ideally bring experience across some combination of:

• Marketplace or two-sided platforms
• Platform Product Management
• eCommerce or retail platforms
• Seller or merchant ecosystems
• API and integration products
• Partner ecosystems
• Multi-brand or multi-business platforms
• Complex enterprise digital products

Direct marketplace experience would be highly regarded, but it is not essential.

More important is your ability to lead across multiple Product streams, make sound prioritisation decisions and operate effectively in an environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
