Senior Project Engineer (Focal Point)

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer (Focal Point) to join our Operations team based in Perth. This is a long-term opportunity reporting to the Delivery Manager, responsible for managing front end projects with a key client.

Wood delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation and technical services to the oil and gas sector and enjoys long-term partnerships with some of the region’s most prominent producers, actively supporting operations in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Kazakhstan, and Sakhalin.

Working in a key EPCM contract, you will be the in Contract Proposals Focal Point while working to create delivery excellence across the assigned project portfolio, provide certainty and confidence to the client / project sponsor, and maintain robust control of project scope, schedule, cost and risk.

In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for:

• Specifying and coordinating the implementation and completion of moderate sized projects, a portfolio of small projects and / or major components of large projects
• Safe delivery, ensuring quality, schedule and cost targets are met and managing associated risk mitigation
• Delivery of project to agreed specifications, managing change and customer relationships and ensuring appropriate reporting and governance is adhered to and controlled

You will be an Australian citizen or hold Permanent Residency (PR) and able to work lawfully in Australia.

Ideally you will be suitably qualified in Engineering from a recognised institution and have a 5+ years of proven experience in the oil and gas brownfields EPC(M) sector in Australia, including 3+ years of relevant experience in a similar Project Management role. It is advantageous if you are a Project Management Professional (PMP), Associate in Project Management (APM) or hold an equivalent certification.

In addition, you will have:

• Significant experience in project delivery management
• Excellent communication skills with proven experience in client facing roles
• Engineering project management experience with extensive knowledge Australian and International applicable codes and standards
• Proven experience managing risk during the design process consistent with technical and commercial requirements
• Well developed computer skills and knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and engineering programs
• A focus on delivering solutions and adept at managing a dynamic environment with varying tasks and changing and competing priorities
