WA Health is embarking on an exciting journey of transformation. Do you have the skills we need to be part of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Program?
The EMR Program is a consumer-centred program that supports healthcare providers to perform their roles enabling safety and quality to be at the heart of care for every consumer. The EMR Program has been established to digitally transform WA Health’s clinical information management systems by delivering a statewide EMR solution for WA Health. The EMR Program will incorporate changes to technology, business processes and culture. It will take advantage of innovations in digital health care to improve patient safety and quality of care for the Western Australian community regardless of their location.
The EMR Program comprises several projects including:
The EMR Program is seeking applications from experienced, dynamic, and enthusiastic individuals. If you have experience supporting the delivery of complex projects, and are keen to make a difference across WA Health, we would love to hear from you.
Position Profile: The Senior Finance Analyst plays a critical role in providing high-quality financial analysis, modelling, and reporting to support the effective delivery and performance of the EMR Program. This position contributes to strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance monitoring by delivering accurate and timely financial insights.
To be successful in this role, you will bring proven experience in managing large and complex budgets, undertaking in-depth financial and data analysis, and presenting clear, actionable insights to a wide range of stakeholders. Strong proficiency in Excel-based financial modelling is essential, along with demonstrated expertise in budget analysis, month-end processes (including payroll and general ledger reconciliations), and ad hoc financial analysis. Experience with data modelling and Power BI will be highly regarded.
A solid grounding in financial accounting principles and their practical application is required, complemented by strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Well-developed communication and negotiation abilities are also important to build collaborative relationships and influence positive financial outcomes.
Previous experience within a government or public sector environment is highly desirable but not mandatory.
The role provides an opportunity to support the state-wide transformation of WA Health.
Eligibility to Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have valid Australian work rights. This includes visa holders. Permanent appointments may be made to individuals who hold citizenship, permanent residency, or visas that enable ongoing employment in Australia.
Other Conditions: WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake a criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. As well as undertaking a criminal record screening and integrity checking, you may also be required to undertake a working with children check (if required for the role) and a pre-employment health assessment. We may ask referees to comment on your integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour. Please note that adverse information does not necessarily disqualify an applicant but will be considered as part of the appointment process.
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants found suitable for this position may be considered for other ‘similar’ vacancies within DOH and/or the wider WA public sector. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
Employee Benefits: In addition to the great salary our employees enjoy an amazing range of benefits which may include (in line with operational requirements):
12% employer contributed superannuation into a fund of your choice. For further information on superannuation click here.
