The Opportunity – Senior Manager, Financial & Strategic Risk
This role plays a critical part in strengthening Medibank's oversight of financial and strategic risks, helping to safeguard the organisation's financial resilience while supporting effective strategic decision-making and sustainable business performance.
You will provide expert second-line oversight, insight and constructive challenge across Medibank's financial and strategic risk profile. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, supporting the ongoing maturity of risk frameworks, risk appetite measures, reporting and governance practices while contributing to the management of key financial and strategic risk exposures.
How you will create value
In this broad and influential role, you will add value by:
Supporting the ongoing maturity of Medibank's financial and strategic risk frameworks, policies, methodologies, risk appetite measures and oversight activities.
Providing independent oversight and constructive challenge across financial and strategic risk exposures, ensuring risks are appropriately identified, assessed and managed.
Performing oversight activities across capital adequacy, liquidity risk, stress testing, investment risk, and broader financial risk management practices.
Providing review and oversight of financial and actuarial models, model risk practices and related governance processes.
Leading risk assessments, workshops, thematic reviews and scenario analysis activities relating to strategic initiatives, investment decisions and business transformation programs.
Monitoring emerging risks, market developments and external trends that may impact Medibank's strategy, financial performance and risk profile.
Preparing high-quality analysis, reporting and insights for Executive and Board risk governance forums.
About you
You are a highly experienced risk professional with deep expertise across financial, strategic and enterprise risk management. You have a strong ability to influence senior stakeholders, provide independent challenge and translate complex risk issues into clear business insights.
Key attributes and experience include:
Demonstrated experience in Financial Risk, Strategic Risk, Model Risk, Actuarial Risk or Enterprise Risk Management within a highly regulated financial services or insurance environment.
Significant experience operating within a Second Line Risk function, with strong knowledge of APRA prudential standards and enterprise risk management frameworks.
Strong understanding of financial risk disciplines including capital, liquidity, investment, insurance and model risk management.
Experience performing oversight, review and challenge of complex risk assessments, financial risk practices and strategic decision-making processes.
Demonstrated ability to provide thought leadership, influence senior stakeholders and contribute to enterprise risk maturity initiatives.
