Light Vehicle Mechanic

About the role

AustStar Motors is seeking a skilled and dedicated Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Morningside, QLD. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our clients' vehicles to the highest standards. This position is integral to our commitment to delivering exceptional service and maintaining customer satisfaction within our busy automotive workshop.

What you'll be doing

• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge

• Performing routine maintenance services

• Conducting repairs to engines, transmissions, suspension systems, braking systems and other vehicle components

• Testing repaired vehicles to ensure faults have been resolved and systems operate safely

• Maintaining accurate records of all work completed and parts used

• Adhering to all health and safety regulations and workshop procedures

• Keeping the workshop clean, organised and safe for all team members

What we're looking for

• A recognised automotive trade qualification or equivalent demonstrated competency in light vehicle mechanical repair

• Current driver's licence

• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, suspension, braking and electrical systems

• Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and service specifications

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team

• A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship

• Preferably, experience with computerised vehicle diagnostics and familiarity with modern vehicle technology
