AVH Business Services is a growing Australian Accounting, Bookkeeping, Tax and BAS practice with a strong reputation for excellent client service, technology-driven processes and genuinely caring about our clients and our team.

We are now looking for an experienced Registered Tax Agent to join our team and take ownership of our taxation services.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants more than simply processing tax returns. You will become an important part of our leadership structure and have the opportunity to shape and grow the tax division of an established and expanding practice.

We are open to part-time or full-time, depending on the person. If you are a Tax Agent who also enjoys BAS and accounting work, there is plenty of scope for a full-time position.

As our Registered Tax Agent, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering taxation and advisory services across our growing client base.

Your role will include:

• Preparing and reviewing individual, company, trust and partnership tax returns

• Preparing and reviewing financial statements

• Providing taxation advice to clients

• Reviewing tax work and ensuring it meets professional and compliance standards

• Managing ATO correspondence and client tax matters

• Liaising with clients and the ATO

• ASIC, Company Formation & Business Structuring

• Identifying tax planning and advisory opportunities

• Working closely with our bookkeeping and BAS team

• Reviewing work prepared by other team members where required

• Ensuring lodgements are completed accurately and on time

• Helping develop and improve our tax processes, systems and workflows

• Taking ownership of the tax function and helping shape the future direction of this part of the practice

If you are someone who enjoys both tax and BAS/accounting, there is an opportunity to expand the role into a broader position across our tax and compliance services.

This could make the role full-time, with responsibility across taxation, BAS, financial statements and client advisory work.

You will be an experienced Registered Tax Agent who is confident working independently and taking responsibility for their own work.

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a Registered Tax Agent and able to act as the Tax Agent for our practice

• TPB licence is current and in good standing

• Has solid public practice experience

• Has strong knowledge of Australian taxation and compliance

• Is confident preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals and business entities

• Has excellent attention to detail

• Can communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members

• Is comfortable working independently while being part of a team

• Takes ownership and follows matters through to completion

• Is proactive rather than waiting to be chased

• Understands that client service matters

• Enjoys improving systems and processes

• Is comfortable using cloud accounting and practice technology

• Wants to be part of a growing practice rather than simply processing a list of returns

You will be supported by an established bookkeeping and BAS team, rather than being expected to do everything yourself.

You are an experienced Tax Agent who has reached the point where you want more autonomy, flexibility and ownership, without necessarily wanting to build your own practice.
