Senior Accountant / Client Manager

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant with around 5+ years’ Australian public practice experience to join our established accounting team in Wollongong.

This role would suit someone who is technically strong, confident dealing with clients and ready to take greater ownership of their work, without needing to have done everything already.

You’ll work across a diverse portfolio of SME, family business and individual clients, with exposure to compliance, tax planning, structuring and advisory work.

Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to continue developing into a trusted client manager and senior member of the team.

You’ll be given responsibility, but you’ll also have support when you need it.

Your role will include:

• Preparing financial statements and income tax returns

• Preparing and reviewing BAS

• Working with companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals

• Managing taxation compliance for SME clients

• Assisting with tax planning and year-end strategies

• Working directly with clients to resolve accounting and taxation matters

• Developing strong ongoing client relationships

• Identifying opportunities to assist clients beyond basic compliance

• Assisting with CGT, Division 7A and business structuring matters

• Reviewing work prepared by junior team members where appropriate

• Supporting and mentoring less experienced accountants

• Working closely with senior accountants and partners on more complex matters

As your experience and confidence grow, so will your level of responsibility and client ownership.

You don’t need to know everything.

But you do need to be someone who takes pride in their work, wants to keep learning and can be relied upon to follow things through.

Ideally, you will have:

• Around 5+ years’ Australian public practice accounting experience

• Strong experience preparing financial statements and tax returns

• Good knowledge of Australian taxation

• Experience with companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals

• Experience working with SME and business clients

• Confidence communicating directly with clients

• Strong attention to detail

• Good organisational and time-management skills

• Experience with Xero and preferably Xero Practice Manager

• A willingness to take ownership and solve problems

CPA or CA qualification is highly regarded, whether completed or currently in progress.
