Shape the Future of Criminology Education and Research
We are seeking a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Criminology to contribute to high quality teaching, impactful research and meaningful community engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative academic environment and help shape the future of Criminology education through innovative teaching, research excellence and strong industry and community partnerships.
For appointment at Level B, applicants should demonstrate an emerging research profile with the capacity to build research impact and networks. For appointment at Level C, national recognition of research is expected, and the development of international research networks is highly desirable.
Key responsibilities
Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and subject coordination in Criminology and related disciplines;Contribute to innovative curriculum design and exceptional student learning experiences;Undertake impactful research and scholarly activity that advances the discipline and enhances research excellence;Supervise and mentor honours and postgraduate research students;Build productive partnerships with community, government, industry and professional stakeholders; andContribute to the leadership, governance and service activities of the School and University.
About the Team
The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) is a dynamic community of internationally recognised scholars, united by a shared commitment to creating meaningful, socially just change through our research projects, community engagement, and graduates. We bring together six disciplines: Criminology, Justice and Social Policy; Geography and Sustainability; Indigenous Studies; Politics and International Studies; Social Work; and Sociology. The School incorporates three research centres: the Australian Centre for Health Engagement, Evidence and Values (ACHEEV), the Australian Centre for Culture, Environment, Society and Space (ACCESS), and the Future of Rights Centre (FoRC).
What You’ll Bring
A PhD in Criminology or a related discipline;Expertise in Criminology and/or criminal justice and a commitment to social justice;A passion for innovative teaching, student success and impactful research;Strong communication and relationship building skills; andAn emerging research profile (Level B) or an established profile with national recognition (Level C).

Employment type: Permanent/Continuing | Full-time appointmentLevel B: $124,928 - $144,275 + 17% Superannuation ORLevel C: $151,746 - $171,141 + 17% SuperannuationLocation: Based at the Wollongong campus, with a requirement to work at the UOW Liverpool campus as needed
