You will join our Melbourne team as an Underwriter, working directly with the Head of Underwriting and Senior Underwriter/Branch Manager. This is more than a desk-based underwriting role: you will have the opportunity to contribute to new business and renewals, meet brokers and clients, attend industry events, support business development and have genuine input into strategic planning and marketing.

What you will be doing

-          Underwrite new business and renewals

-          Liaise with brokers on coverage enquiries

-          Build relationships through broker and client meetings

-          Collaborate with the claims team to help deliver client-focused outcomes

-          Participate in trade expos, conferences and industry events

-          Contribute to strategic planning, marketing and business development

-          Support the administration function where required

About you

You will suit this role if you are an insurance professional who wants to keep developing, enjoys being close to clients and the market, and has a genuine enthusiasm for sport and leisure. You will be comfortable balancing time-sensitive priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

-          At least 5 years of insurance experience, including 3 years as an underwriter

-          Tier 2 compliant

-          A genuine and strong interest in sport and leisure

-          Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

-          Excellent time management and the ability to work to deadlines

-          Confidence engaging key stakeholders in open forums

-          A strong work ethic, curiosity and desire to learn and progress your career

Mathematical Skills

Basic mathematical reasoning. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and use arms or hands to reach and listen or talk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to five kilograms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and colour vision.
