Brisbane Metal Fabrication is looking for an experienced Trade Assistant / Labourer to join our growing steel fabrication team at Rocklea.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong work ethic, and is confident working in a busy workshop environment. A current forklift licence and demonstrated forklift experience are essential for this position.

About the Role

As a Trade Assistant / Labourer, you’ll work alongside our boilermakers and fabricators, helping keep workshop production running safely and efficiently.

Your duties will include:

• Assisting boilermakers and fabricators with day-to-day production

• Operating a forklift to move and position steel, materials and products

• Loading and unloading deliveries using the forklift

• General workshop labouring and material handling

• Moving and organising steel and fabrication materials

• Grinding, cleaning and finishing steel components

• Preparing materials for fabrication and welding

• Cutting and measuring materials under supervision

• Using basic hand and power tools

• Keeping the workshop clean, safe and organised

• Supporting the team with general workshop duties as required

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is dependable, practical and willing to get stuck in.

Essential:

• Current LF Forklift Licence

• Confident and competent handling steel, materials and workshop loads

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

• Positive, can-do attitude

• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team

• Physically fit and capable of regular manual handling

• Commitment to workplace safety

• Driver’s licence or reliable transport to attend work at Rocklea

Experience in a steel fabrication, manufacturing, construction or workshop environment will be highly regarded.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 5:30am – 2:00pm
Friday: 5:30am – 11:30am
