About the role:

This is a hands on role suited to a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic who takes pride in quality workmanship, strong fault-finding skills, and maintaining a high standard of safety.

You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a range of trucks, trailers, and heavy vehicles, both in the workshop and occasionally on site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and braking system faults.

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers, including braking and suspension systems.

• Carry out breakdown repairs in the workshop and occasionally off-site.

• Complete accurate service records, job cards, and maintenance documentation.

• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.

• Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of workshop tools and equipment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a qualified Truck & Trailer Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic.

• Trade qualification in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics or equivalent.

• Strong diagnostic and mechanical fault-finding skills.

• Proven experience with heavy vehicle braking systems, suspension, and trailer repairs.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

• Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks effectively.

Desirable:

• MC driver's licence preferred.

• Forklift licence advantageous.

• Hydraulic systems and fault diagnosis.

• Welding and fabrication experience

• Servicing earthmoving equipment, forklifts, and mobile plant.

• Use of electronic diagnostic equipment.

• Understanding of Main Roads WA Heavy Vehicle Services requirements and heavy vehicle roadworthiness standards.
