About the Role

As a Leading Hand, you'll play a key role in driving the safe, efficient, and effective day-to-day operations of the warehouse. Leading from the front, you'll support the team with receiving, handling, storing, and dispatching goods, while ensuring orders are accurately picked, packed, invoiced, and delivered on time. This hands-on role combines operational leadership with warehouse expertise, offering the opportunity to make a real impact on productivity, customer service, and team performance..

What you’ll be doing

• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient warehouse environment that supports high-volume order fulfilment.
• Champion safe work practices and compliance with Health, Safety and Wellbeing standards while supporting team productivity and performance.
• Lead, support, and motivate the picking team to achieve daily operational and customer service targets.
• Allocate daily workloads and resources to ensure efficient and productive warehouse operations.
• Monitor team performance and provide coaching to maintain high standards of accuracy and productivity.
• Ensure customer orders are picked, checked, and completed accurately and within required timeframes.
• Maintain a safe working environment by promoting and enforcing workplace health and safety procedures.
• Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies, damaged inventory, and operational issues in a timely manner.
• Work closely with replenishment, inventory, and dispatch teams to ensure smooth workflow across the distribution centre.
• Operate RF scanning equipment and warehouse management systems (WMS) to support efficient order fulfilment.
• Assist with the training and onboarding of new team members to ensure compliance with business processes and standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, accuracy, and overall warehouse performance.
• Contribute to the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs), service levels, and dispatch deadlines.

What we’re looking for

• Minimum 5+ years' experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment, with strong exposure to outbound operations and order fulfilment.
• Proven experience in a Leading Hand, Team Leader, or similar supervisory role, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop warehouse team members.
• Demonstrated success managing operational KPIs, including productivity, order accuracy, safety, and service performance.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to build accountability and maintain high team engagement.
• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
