Part-time Payroll Officer

About the role

Redwind Payroll Services is seeking a flexible Part-time Payroll Officer to join our team in Perth, WA. This is a part-time position working from home, offering flexibility whilst maintaining the operational excellence our clients depend on. Hours required are approximately 8 - 15 hours per week, worked across Monday to Friday, depending on client needs. In this role, you will be responsible for managing payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of payroll services to our diverse client base. This position is integral to our service delivery and directly impacts client satisfaction and organisational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Processing payroll for multiple clients, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, deductions, superannuation and tax withholding

• Maintaining and updating employee records, including leave balances, personal details and tax file number information

• Reconciling payroll accounts and identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner

• Preparing payroll reports and providing payroll data to clients in accordance with their requirements

• Lodging payroll tax returns and superannuation contributions with relevant authorities

• Responding to payroll-related queries from clients and providing accurate, professional advice

• Ensuring compliance with current payroll legislation, awards and enterprise agreements

• Supporting the payroll team with administrative tasks and contributing to process improvements

• Maintaining confidentiality and security of sensitive payroll and employee information

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working in a payroll environment, ideally within a payroll service provider or in-house payroll function

• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including the Fair Work Act, tax withholding requirements and superannuation regulations

• Proficiency with payroll software systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with popular Australian payroll packages is highly desirable

• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Strong organisational and time management skills, particularly when managing multiple client accounts simultaneously

• Professional communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with clients and team members

• A solid understanding of Australian taxation principles and payroll compliance requirements

• Ability to work independently whilst being a collaborative team member

• A current or recent payroll qualification or certification, such as the Payroll Institute of Australia certificate, is advantageous
