Restaurant Host | Maître D'

Maha, the flagship restaurant of celebrated chef Shane Delia and Melbourne's top modern middle-eastern inspired restaurant is seeking an experienced Host or Maître D' to support our objective to exceed all of our guests expectations!

As Host, you will be the face of the restaurant, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience from the moment guests arrive. You will support the front-of-house operations, manage guest relations, and ensure that the highest level of service is provided, reflecting the restaurant's prestigious reputation. This is a customer-focused role that demands strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.

Friday & Saturday evenings are essential for this role, and through the summer period, additional hours available throughout the week, especially with hosting many functions and events in both Maha and our sister venue Bar Jayda (next door). Approximately 12-24 hours per week.

• Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly, ensuring they feel welcome and valued from the moment they enter the restaurant.

  • Oversee the guest reservation system, ensuring efficient seating arrangements, wait times, and ensuring all special requests or needs are met.

  • Handle VIP and special guests with the utmost professionalism, ensuring an unforgettable dining experience.

  • Assist in managing the flow of the dining room, supporting management towards ensuring all service areas are properly maintained.

  • Support our Reservations Team with optimising our reservation system, including monitoring daily reservations, special events, and private dining requests.

  • Support the front of house in delivering food and drinks, and clearing and resetting tables.

Full-time position could be available for someone experienced and interested in a varied role with shifts as a section-waiter.
