As our project portfolio continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Tiler to join our team and deliver high-quality wall and floor tiling across a variety of sites.

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable full-time Wall and Floor Tiler to lay ceramic, clay, porcelain, slate, marble, glass and natural-stone tiles on internal and external walls and floors across residential and commercial projects.

The successful candidate will prepare surfaces, set out work accurately, cut and install tiles, complete waterproofing and finishing tasks, and ensure all work meets project specifications, quality standards and WHS requirements.

This role requires strong trade skills, close attention to detail, sound site communication and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with supervisors, project managers, subcontractors and other trades.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site preparation: Review plans and specifications, measure and mark surfaces, establish set-out lines and confirm levels, falls and tile patterns before installation.

• Surface preparation: Prepare wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, grout and adhesive, filling holes and cracks, and cleaning, levelling, screeding and applying suitable primers or membranes.

• Waterproofing: Install waterproofing systems in wet areas in accordance with project specifications, manufacturer requirements and relevant standards.

• Cutting and shaping: Use tile-cutting tools and other hand and power tools to measure, cut and shape tiles for edges, corners, fittings, pipes and other penetrations.

• Tile installation: Spread adhesive onto prepared surfaces and tiles, set and secure tiles in position, and ensure correct alignment, spacing, levels, falls and tile patterns.

• Grouting and finishing: Apply grout, polish, sealants and silicone; remove excess grout and clean tiled surfaces; and complete edges, corners, trims and movement joints to a professional standard.

• Repairs and rectification: Identify defects, replace damaged tiles and complete remedial or maintenance tiling as directed.

• Quality control: Inspect work throughout installation to ensure alignment, adhesion, finish, drainage falls and workmanship comply with drawings and client expectations.

• Specialised finishes: Where required by the project scope, lay granolithic, terrazzo, cement or similar composition floors and install coloured tiles in decorative patterns or mosaics.

• Site coordination: Work with Site Supervisors, Project Managers and other trades to sequence activities, manage access and complete work within agreed project timelines.

• Materials and equipment: Calculate material quantities, minimise waste, maintain tools and equipment, and report material shortages or site issues promptly.

• Safety and compliance: Follow WHS procedures, site rules, safe manual-handling practices and company policies at all times, maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Requirements:

Experience: At least 1 year of relevant wall and floor tiling experience, preferably across both residential and commercial projects.

Qualification: Certificate III in Wall and Floor tiling an equivalent trade qualification, is preferred.

Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to interpret plans, complete accurate set-out and deliver high-quality finishes across different tile types and substrates.

• Practical experience in screeding, waterproofing, adhesive selection, tile cutting, grouting, sealing and defect rectification.

• Good time management, reliability, physical fitness and the ability to work safely in a hands-on site environment.

Commitment: Ability to commit to a full-time role for at least three (3) years.
