We're on the lookout for an experienced, trend-obsessed Womenswear Buyer (Maternity Cover) to join our team at General Pants!

You will shape the women's range at General Pants - building an assortment that lands the trend before it peaks, backs the right brands at the right time, and keeps our customer coming back. If you're driven by data, sharp in a negotiation, and have a genuine point of view on where fashion is heading, this is your chance to put your stamp on one of Australia's most iconic retailers.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead the buying strategy across Womenswear, aligning category direction with customer insights, market trends, brand vision and overall business strategy.
• Own and manage an annual OTB budget, driving commercially sound investment decisions to achieve sales, margin and inventory targets while maintaining healthy stock levels and sell-through.
• Lead seasonal assortment planning and category development across in-house and branded collections, building a balanced, commercially relevant product mix that meets customer and business needs.
• Develop and execute brand and category strategies, ensuring clear positioning and a consistent, differentiated and relevant product offering across the Womenswear portfolio.
• Partner cross-functionally with Planning, Marketing, Digital, Visual Merchandising and Operations teams to deliver category growth, optimise the customer journey and support an integrated omnichannel strategy.
• Leverage sales, customer, trend and market insights to identify opportunities, forecast demand and inform responsive buying decisions that maximise sales and inventory productivity.
• Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle with in-house design and production teams, taking ranges from concept to delivery and ensuring critical path milestones, launches and drops are delivered to plan.
• Drive continuous improvement across the buying function, identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase speed to market and enhance commercial outcomes.

About You

• 4+ years' experience as a Buyer in a high-volume retail business
• Confident in Excel — pivot tables and VLOOKUPs are second nature
• A strong communicator who gets to the point, with a sharp eye for detail
• Excellent time management and the ability to juggle competing priorities
• Adaptable when the market shifts and open to learning new approaches
• A genuine team player who backs the people around you
• Comfortable in a small, fast-paced team where everyone owns their part
• Someone who lives and breathes youth (16–25) trend and culture
