Group Payroll Manager

About this role:

The Group Payroll Manager is responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end payroll function across Wormall Group, ensuring the accurate, timely and compliant delivery of payroll services across multiple entities, Australian states and industrial instruments.

The Group Payroll Manager provides leadership and oversight of payroll operations, compliance, systems, reporting, remuneration administration and employee benefits. The role develops and maintains payroll policies, procedures and governance frameworks that support organisational objectives while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

This role partners with Finance, HR and Operations to provide advice, continuous improvement initiatives and strategic support relating to payroll, remuneration and workforce compliance.

What your day will look like:

• Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll function across Wormall Group.
• Ensure the accurate and timely processing of weekly payrolls within established electronic transfer timeframes.
• Manage payroll processing for approximately >500 employees across multiple entities, locations and industrial instruments.
• Monitor the communication and resolution of payroll issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Complete month-end and year-end payroll reporting, including assistance with system maintenance, general ledger accounts and reconciliations.
• Monitor and reconcile all statutory and legislative obligations including superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, long service leave and workers compensation across all operations.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, client specifications and corporate procedures.
• Manage payroll adjustments, leave payments, allowances, deductions, termination, final payments and separation certificates.
• Maintain current records associated with Workers Compensation and other payroll-related statutory requirements.
• Demonstrate team spirit and contribute to a positive work environment that supports employee engagement and collaboration.
• Administer remuneration, benefits and performance management processes within Payroll systems.
• Provide employees with information about, working conditions, wages and employee benefits.
• Advise managers on payroll legislation, compliance obligations and changes to business requirements and processes.
• Review and advise on payroll issues within Wormall Group.
• Foster positive attitudes toward organisational objectives. Including change management process and continuous improvement.
• Act as a key link between management and employees by responding to enquiries, interpreting and administering agreements, and assisting in the resolution of workplace-related issues.
• Maintain reports and compile statistical information relating to personnel, such as hires, transfers and leave reporting.
• Develop and administer special projects in areas such as wages/salaries and management of agreements.

About you:

• Advanced knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and Modern Awards.
• 5 years+ payroll experience with responsibility for payroll compliance and reporting.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software (Employment Hero experience is advantageous).
• Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively to complete tasks on time.
• Attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills including confident stakeholder engagement capacity.
• Experience producing correspondence, written reports, and instructions to a professional standard.
• Strong leadership skillset with experience displaying skillful communication, technical expertise, promotion of key business values and ability to mentor and coach employees.
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar is desirable.
