About the Role:

BaptistCare is a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Local Area Coordination (LAC) Partner, delivering NDIS Local Area Coordination services across South Australia. We provide a comprehensive induction program and ongoing professional development to support your success.

As a Local Area Coordinator, you will work alongside people with disability, their families and carers to help them understand and implement their NDIS plans, connect with services and community supports, and achieve their goals. You'll also work with local organisations to build more inclusive communities and improve opportunities for people with disability.

We are currently seeking Local Area Coordinators to join our Yorke Mid North team, based in Kadina. This role supports participants across the Copper Coast, Yorke Peninsula, Clare & Gilbert Valleys, Wakefield, Port Pirie, Northern Areas, Mount Remarkable, Orroroo Carrieton, Peterborough, Goyder and Barunga West local government areas.

Key Responsibilities

As a Local Area Coordinator, you will:

• Support people with disability, their families and carers to navigate the NDIS and implement their NDIS plans.
• Deliver person-centred support through home, office and community-based appointments.
• Connect participants with mainstream, community and funded supports that promote independence and inclusion.
• Build relationships with local organisations and community groups to improve opportunities for people with disability.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, person-centred services.

Key Selection Criteria:

• Communication - demonstrated communication skills and experience in collecting and collating key information and criteria.
• Organisation and Planning – demonstrated comprehensive assessment and planning skills.
• Problem solving - able to work within complex environments and be outcome focused.
• Continuous development - ability to accept constructive feedback from supervisors and stakeholders and apply continuous learning to keep abreast of developments in the industry.
• Service delivery- outstanding ability to support people with a disability to set reach their goals.
• Collaboration – ability to work within a team environment by sharing information, supporting colleagues and respecting different skills.
• Influencing skills – demonstrated ability to motivate others and act as a change agent through strengths based, person cantered practice.
• Adaptive behaviour -demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children and vulnerable people.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Experience working with children, young people and/or people experiencing vulnerability, ideally within the disability, child protection or community services sector.
• Sound knowledge of the disability and child and family services sectors, including relevant legislation and safeguarding requirements.
• Strong communication, relationship-building and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems and technology.
• A current Working with Children Check, or the willingness to obtain
• Willingness to undertake a National Criminal Check.
• Current certification in DHS Safe Environments: Through Their Eyes (completed within the last three years), or the willingness to obtain.
• A current Australian driver's licence, the ability to travel independently, and access to a registered and comprehensively insured private vehicle for work purposes.
