Are you a skilled Motor Mechanic looking for a long-term opportunity with a respected, family-owned workshop? Speedway Automotives, located in Dandenong, Victoria, is seeking a full-time Motor Mechanic (General) to join our team.

With over 30 years of industry experience, we pride ourselves on providing reliable, high-quality automotive services across a wide range of vehicles - including Australian, Japanese, and European models.

Position Overview

This is a permanent, full-time role suited to an experienced and reliable Motor Mechanic who can carry out a full range of diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on light vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and Australian road safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools and technology;

· Repair and replace worn or defective parts such as engines, transmissions, steering, brakes, suspension, exhaust, and cooling systems;

· Perform scheduled servicing, logbook maintenance, and safety checks;

· Carry out engine tuning and vehicle performance testing;

· Assemble, dismantle, and recondition engines and mechanical components;

· Road test vehicles to ensure faults are resolved;

· Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins;

· Ability to fit and weld exhausts;

· Communicate with customers to explain issues, work performed, and provide maintenance advice;

· Maintain clean work practices and comply with OH&S procedures.

Requirements

· A minimum of three (3) years’ full-time, relevant work experience in light mechanical repair;

· Relevant qualifications at an AQF Certificate III or higher are desirable;

· Experience working on a variety of vehicle makes and models, including European cars;

· Strong diagnostic skills and mechanical aptitude;

· Ability to work independently with high attention to detail;

· Professional interpersonal and communication skills;

· Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
