About the role
THE OPPORTUNITY
Tableland Veterinary Service is seeking a new NURSE TEAM LEADER to join our Malanda clinic. We are seeking a temporary replacement to cover a period of parental leave, expected to run from October 2026 to October 2027.
This leadership position plays a key role in our larger clinics, acting as the conductor for our clinical care ‘orchestra’ of veterinarians, veterinary nurses and kennel assistants. They work alongside the clinic’s Practice Manager as a vital communication link between the clinic team and our business’ senior leadership and administrative support, helping to share details of challenges, ideas, decision and policies in both directions.
They need to be collaborative and foster a culture that encourages staff to voice concerns and ideas, but also be able to make sound decisions and communicate these effectively and with empathy. Our Nurse Team Leaders require excellent emotional intelligence to effectively identify and support the emotions of their team, while also managing their own reactions in a calm and constructive way. An ability to negotiate and mediate difference of opinions is essential.
They are also expected to contribute to our Nurse Clinical Advisory Team, shaping our policies, procedures and training resources for our team of 30+ veterinary nurses across eight clinics. This includes reviewing, drafting and implementing new Stardards of Care and delivering training to our team, both within your own clinic and across our group of clinics.
THIS ROLE MAY BE PERFECT FOR YOU IF…
THE DAY TO DAY ROLE
Each day will be a mix of clinical veterinary nursing, coaching and mentoring of trainee nurses, and administrative tasks including coordinating rosters, interviewing new nursing staff, undertaking performance reviews, running team meetings and drafting policies and procedures.

This is an opportunity for your to apply all of your skills and training to deliver excellent care to our patients.
