Role DescriptionThe Garment Technician is a part-time, on-site role based in Sydney's Northern Beaches, NSW, responsible for ensuring all garments meet the brand’s fit, quality, and construction standards. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing and interpreting design specifications, creating and updating technical packs, and overseeing garment measurements, grading, and fitting sessions.
The role involves working closely with designers and production teams to resolve construction issues, improve manufacturing processes, and ensure consistency across styles and seasons. The Garment Technician will check samples against specifications, provide detailed fit comments, and support quality control for bulk production. This role requires hands-on collaboration with pattern makers and suppliers to maintain One Teaspoon’s standards of casual luxury and comfort.
QualificationsStrong knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting, and sewing techniques, with experience in women’s fashion or casual luxury apparel.Proficiency in measuring garments, grading sizes, and preparing clear technical specifications and fit comments.Experience in sample management, quality control, and troubleshooting fit or manufacturing issues with internal teams and suppliers.Ability to use relevant industry software (e.g., pattern-making or PLM systems) and basic computer skills for documentation and communication.Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with design, production, and suppliers on-site in Sydney.Relevant qualification in fashion technology, garment construction, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.Understanding of fabric properties, wash processes, and finishing techniques; experience in denim or casual wear is an advantage.
