SVHM 2027 Transition to Specialty Practice – Intensive Care Unit Program 

• Part Time (0.8 EFT), Fixed term role, 6-month.

About the Transition to Specialty Practice Program: Intensive Care Unit 

At St Vincent’s, we use scholarly activities and innovation in our teaching strategies to prepare nurses for an ever-changing healthcare environment, where new technologies, treatments and areas of practice continue to emerge. We are seeking Registered Nurses for our 2027 Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) ICU program who are committed to providing the highest quality of care to our patients and strive to further develop their knowledge and clinical expertise.    

Program Highlights: 

The ICU TSP provides clinical experience to help you achieve your career goals: 

• Academic & Non-Academic Pathway: The program offers both Academic and Non-Academic Pathway options, supporting you in achieving your career and educational goals. Participants who successfully complete the Academic Pathway may be eligible to apply for Advanced Standing toward further postgraduate studies with our affiliated university partners.
• Clinical Experience: Gain hands-on experience in caring for patients requiring intensive care and high dependency nursing 
• Clinical Supervision: Benefit from guidance and mentorship provided by experienced nursing educators and peers.
• Learning Platform: An accessible e-learning platform, study days, and objective-based assessments covering essential elements of critical care nursing. 

About You:

You are a motivated and compassionate nurse looking to take the next step in your career through specialty practice. You will bring:

• A solid foundation in acute nursing and a desire to develop critical care and ICU nursing practice.
• A strong commitment to ongoing education and professional growth
• A patient-centred approach, delivering safe and high-quality care
• Initiative and advocacy for the safety and wellbeing of both patients and colleagues
• You are committed to ongoing professional development, participating in training and study days as required by the ICU Transition to Specialty Practice program. You are dedicated to undertaking associated assessment tasks and hurdles, as part of the program.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

• Current Nursing Registration: Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (via AHPRA), without conditions.
• Educational Background: A degree in General Nursing that meets the registration requirements of Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) standards.
• Professional Experience: Successful completion of a Graduate Nurse Program OR have a minimum of 12 months of acute care nursing experience, in addition to, at least 2 years of acute care registered nursing experience.
