The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Officer to join the Facilities team in a full-time ongoing role.

As the Facilities Maintenance Officer, you will be at the centre of ensuring the Museum's facilities, equipment and non-collection assets are maintained to a high standard and ready to support daily operations, special events and exhibitions. This diverse role offers a unique blend of hands-on maintenance, asset management and operational coordination, providing the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of activities and projects.

Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will coordinate maintenance works, manage asset movements and storage, oversee offsite warehouse operations, and collaborate with staff, contractors and service providers to deliver effective facilities solutions. You will play a key role in maintaining safe, functional and efficient environments across Museum sites, while identifying opportunities to improve processes and enhance service delivery.

Please note: This recruitment process may be used to fill both current and future vacancies. A merit pool of suitable applicants may be established and used to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing positions that arise within 18 months from the date the vacancy is advertised.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will demonstrate their capacity against the following:  

1. Demonstrated experience in facilities management, maintenance, asset management or operational support services with the ability to deliver effective operational outcomes.
2. Proven ability to coordinate maintenance and operational activities, manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and deliver quality outcomes with limited supervision.
3. Sound knowledge of work health and safety requirements and safe work practices with a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant workplace. 
4. Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships, provide practical advice and support, and effectively liaise with staff, contractors and service providers.
5. Demonstrated experience in asset management, logistics, warehouse operations or contractor coordination, supported by strong administrative, record-keeping and organisational skills.

Qualifications and/or relevant experience required

Mandatory:

• Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence 
• Demonstrated experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, asset management, logistics, warehousing, or a similar operational environment 
• Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and safe work practices in facilities or maintenance environments. 
• Demonstrated ability to undertake maintenance activities, coordinate competing priorities and work independently to achieve operational outcomes. 

Desirable:

• Trade qualification, Certificate IV, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Facilities Management, Building Services.
• Asset Management, Logistics or a related discipline. 
• Experience coordinating contractors, service providers or maintenance works.
• Experience managing warehouses, inventories, asset registers or logistics operations. 
• Experience using asset management, maintenance management or facilities management systems. 
• Current Forklift Licence, Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence, First Aid Certificate or Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
