About the role
Senior Power BI Developer
About us
Total Synergy is a private-equity-backed global software business providing project management software for architecture and engineering consultancies. Operating in Australia, the UK and now the US, our people enable us to make a difference every day to our customers and help them find the clearest path to project profitability.
The Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Power BI Developer to join our small, fast-growing team and help us keep delivering the advanced reporting solutions that Total Synergy customers rely on. You’ll join a close-knit team of three — with colleagues in the UK and here in Australia — backed by the wider business, and you’ll work directly with clients to get under the skin of their data and reporting challenges. It’s a hands-on, technical role built for someone who loves getting deep into DAX, data modelling, and SQL, and who brings a genuine knack for thinking outside the box. As we continue to grow, this newly created role will help us keep pace with demand while holding the high bar our customers expect.
Responsibilities:
Design, build and maintain advanced Power BI reports and dashboards that give Total Synergy customers real clarity over their data.Get hands-on with DAX, writing advanced measures and calculations — from time intelligence to calculated tables.Shape robust, well-structured data models (think star schema) that keep reports accurate and fast.Write and optimise complex SQL queries and build and maintain the views that power our reporting.Own database and ETL platform administration tasks like configuring new workflows, optimising database performance through indexing, and deploying new customer databases.Partner directly with clients — understanding their requirements, troubleshooting issues, and presenting solutions that land.Bring your problem-solving instincts to bear on complex data challenges, thinking outside the box to find the best answer.Collaborate with the team and wider business, sharing knowledge and helping us all get better at what we do.Spot opportunities to use AI tools to work smarter — in Power BI, in SQL, and in your day-to-day.
Qualifications/ Experience
