About the role
Geosyntec is growing in Australia. We now have over 110 practitioners across the country, with offices in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast. In 2022, Red Earth Engineering joined the Geosyntec family of companies, bringing with them some of the very best expertise in the mine tailings and water dam sectors.
We are now the tailings and geotechnical consultant of choice for several major mining companies with operations in Australia. As an example of our commitment to leading the industry in innovation and technical excellence, we have recently announced the establishment of an advanced testing facility led by Dr. David Reid. Our expertise, combined with Geosyntec’s world-class reputation in hydrogeology, geochemistry, geotechnical engineering, seismicity and risk allows us to assist our clients in meeting their engineering challenges and better understanding their risk.
We now have an opportunity available for a Principal Tailings Engineer to join our Perth, Brisbane or Melbourne office. This position is well-suited for a talented, experienced individual who is interested in contributing to and managing innovative and challenging projects, including several projects where we are currently the designated Engineer of Record.
This role focuses on supporting our clients' tailings and mine waste management and operational teams to ensure that their facilities are safe. Compliance to the latest standards (which are evolving) is critical for mining companies to demonstrate their commitment to ESG and for the Social License to Operate. This key role will provide the technical and operational support for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and Water Storage Facilities (WSF).
As a Principal Tailings Engineer, this role requires the application of the tasks listed below, but also an expanding knowledge of all elements and disciplines required to design these facilities, such as hydrogeology, process, geochemistry, water, civil engineering and social engagement. The expectation of this role is that the candidate will fulfill the role of an Engineer of Record (EoR).
Further details regarding this position are outlined in the Geosyntec Position expectations for a "Principal" Role.
