Peer Worker (IEA)

Flourish Australia has commenced services with the Inclusive Employment Australia program and we are looking for a Peer Worker to join the team!

The position available is:

• Part-time position based in Tamworth (30 hrs/fortnight)

• Working between Monday and Friday with flexibility to negotiate your days!

• Level 3 on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018) equivalent to $40.49 - $43.42 p/h + super + tax-free salary packaging!

About the Opportunity

As a Peer Worker within our Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) program, you will use your lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery to support people accessing our services to achieve their hopes and dreams. You will play an important part in assisting people to maintain wellness and realise their employment goals. 

On a day to day basis you will:

• Support people to understand the role of meaningful employment in their recovery journey.

• Encourage engagement in employment-related activities, appointments, education, training and skill development opportunities.

• Share practical strategies that promote confidence, resilience, self-advocacy and sustainable employment outcomes. 

• Work collaboratively with Employment Coordinators, Team Leaders and other team members to achieve positive outcomes.

About You

The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-centred practice. You will build relationships grounded in mutuality, shared understanding, respect and hope and will have an understanding of the challenges people may face when seeking, obtaining and maintaining employment.

Selection Criteria

• A Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2-years full-time experience working in the human services field (as recognised by Flourish Australia).

• A personal lived experience of a mental health challenge.

• A current Australian Driver’s Licence.

All appointments with Flourish Australia's Mental Health Services are subject to an NDIS Worker Screening clearance, a National Criminal History Check, a WWCC, previous employment reference checks, satisfactory Australian residency status and other background checks.
