Casual Accompanist

Wilderness School is a non-denominational day and boarding girl's school educating students from Early Learning Centre through to Year 12. About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Casual Accompanist to support the Music program at Wilderness School.

This casual position provides piano accompaniment for rehearsals, lessons, assessments and performances across the School, working closely with the Head of Music Curriculum and Head of Music Performance (Co-curricular), instrumental teachers, and student performers.

Rehearsals are held before school, at lunchtimes and after school across the week. There may be opportunities to accompany both rehearsals and ensembles as well as individual students, on an ad hoc basis. The successful applicant will also accompany soloists and ensembles at soirees, concerts, assemblies, House and School events, eisteddfods, AMEB examinations and SACE Music performance assessments.

It is an advantage if you are also prepared to teach piano, providing cover when members of our regular team of piano teachers are unwell or otherwise unavailable.

About You

• Tertiary music qualifications and/or demonstrated experience as an accompanist
• Highly developed piano skills, including strong sight reading and the ability to rehearse and perform to a high standard
• Experience accompanying vocalists and instrumentalists, ideally in an examination or eisteddfod context
• Familiarity with AMEB and SACE Music performance requirements is desirable
• A willingness to teach piano on a relief basis is an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively to students, staff and parents
• Availability across the week for rehearsals held before school, at lunchtimes and after school, and for evening concerts and weekend events as required
