Financial Accountant, frontier technology, contract-permanent

A fast-growing, internationally operating frontier technology business seeks to appoint a Financial Accountant on a contract basis, with a view to a permanent hire. This is a rare chance to take a genuinely end-to-end finance role inside a small, capable team, working across a multi-entity, multi-currency group at an exciting stage of growth.

NOTE: The role is offered as a contract initially, with a strong likelihood of becoming permanent, and we are keen to speak with candidates who are available at short notice.

About the role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you will own core accounting activity across the group and help bring structure to a business that is still building much of its process from the ground up. Responsibilities include:

• Owning the month-end close: journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations across multiple entities
• Preparing management reporting and supporting group consolidation
• Multi-entity, multi-currency accounting, including intercompany balances and foreign exchange
• Running payroll for Australian employees and coordinating payroll inputs for offshore team members
• Supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing in a hands-on team
• Assisting with BAS, GST, PAYG and compliance across jurisdictions
• Supporting external audit, and R&D Tax Incentive and grant documentation
• Helping to document policies and controls, and improving systems and process, including the rollout of timesheeting

About you

• CA or CPA qualified
• Strong month-end, journals and reconciliations experience
• Multi-entity and foreign-currency experience, including intercompany and FX
• Hands-on payroll experience
• Proficient in Xero, with strong Excel skills
• A genuine problem solver, comfortable with limited process and a fast pace
• Available at short notice, and open to a contract with temporary-to-permanent potential

Desirable: experience in a startup, scale-up or technology business; exposure to revenue recognition under AASB 15; and exposure to the R&D Tax Incentive, grants or external audit preparation.
