Studio Instructor Drums and Percussion

Key Responsibilities:

The Studio Instructor – Drumkit & Percussion is responsible for delivering high-quality, individualised instrumental music tuition to students across a range of year levels and ability groups from Yr4-12. The instructor will inspire a genuine love of music, foster technical proficiency, and support student participation in the College's broader performing arts program.

This role operates within the College's Music Department and works collaboratively with classroom music teachers, ensemble directors, and performing arts staff to support a vibrant, student-centred music culture.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Working closely with colleagues to foster a collaborative and supportive music teaching environment.
• Planning and delivering engaging, sequential percussion lessons tailored to students' individual abilities, goals, and interests.
• Selecting appropriate repertoire and teaching resources, while using innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance learning.
• Monitoring student progress, maintaining records, providing feedback, and preparing students for performances, examinations, and assessments.
• Supporting the broader music program through collaboration with ensemble directors, concert preparation, competitions, auditions, and performance assessments.
• Building positive relationships with students, families, and staff, while promptly addressing and reporting student welfare concerns.
• Managing lesson timetables, attendance records, and studio administration requirements.
• Ensuring compliance with College policies, including workplace health and safety, child protection requirements, and maintaining a current Blue Card.
• Participating in professional development and departmental meetings, while staying current with developments in percussion teaching, repertoire, and performance practice.
• Contributing positively to the culture, reputation, and success of the Music Department and College community.
