About the role
Employment Opportunity:
Join Legeneering and work across a diverse portfolio of defence, marine and industrial projects from our Henderson facilities and client sites.
We are seeking experienced Mechanical and Marine Fitters who take pride in quality workmanship, work well as part of a team and want exposure to technically challenging projects across shipbuilding, vessel sustainment, mechanical installation and industrial services.
About Legeneering
Legeneering is an established Western Australian engineering and fabrication company delivering specialist services across the Defence, Marine, Energy and Industrial sectors.
Operating from our Henderson production facilities, our team supports major projects involving marine mechanical installation, vessel construction and sustainment, rotating equipment, piping systems, fabrication and complex mechanical works.
We are continuing to grow our Defence, Marine & Industrial Services division and are looking for capable tradespeople who want to be part of that growth.
The role
Depending on your experience and project requirements, your work may include:
Mechanical installation and assembly.
Marine propulsion and driveline equipment installation.
Shafting, bearings, couplings and rotating equipment.
Pumps, valves and mechanical systems.
Equipment alignment and precision mechanical works.
Machining - In-situ & workshop based.
Vessel construction, maintenance and sustainment activities.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and work packs.
Completing inspections, quality records and project documentation.
Working within client facilities, shipyards and Legeneering's Henderson production facilities.
Supporting testing, commissioning and project completion activities.
What we are looking for
To be successful, you will ideally have:
Australian recognised Mechanical Fitter trade qualification or equivalent.
Experience in mechanical fitting, marine, shipbuilding, defence, heavy industry or similar environments.
Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
A strong commitment to safety, quality and doing the job correctly.
Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with supervisors and project personnel.
Current Australian driver's licence.
Experience with marine propulsion systems, shaft lines, driveline installation, precision alignment, rotating equipment or naval vessels will be highly regarded but is not essential.
Why join Legeneering?
Work on major defence and marine projects contributing to Australia's growing sovereign industrial capability.
Local Henderson-based work with exposure to multiple projects, clients and technical disciplines.
Varied, technically challenging work rather than repetitive production tasks.
Long-term career opportunities as our Defence, Marine & Industrial Services division continues to grow.
Work alongside experienced tradespeople, supervisors, project managers and technical specialists.
Competitive remuneration based on skills and experience.
Opportunities for overtime and additional project work where available.
We are looking for people who take ownership of their work, support their team and maintain high standards of safety and quality.
